Of the 11 four-year schools that were ranked, University of Washington, Washington State University, Heritage University, Central Washington University and Northwest University scored the top five spots. Washington’s top 11 two-year schools were also included on the list, with Edmonds Community College, Spokane Community College, Renton Technical College, Clark College and Shoreline Community College coming in as the top five.

“Online certificates and degree programs are gaining in popularity, especially for busy students who have to juggle other demands like work or family obligations,” said Doug Jones, CEO and founder of “These schools in Washington have proven to be excellent options for a non-traditional education, going the extra mile to provide the tools and resources to help online students excel.”

To earn a spot on the “Best Online Schools in Washington” list, all colleges and universities must be institutionally accredited, public or private not-for-profit entities.
