The Los Angeles-based consulting group comments on a recent article that, from arson to natural events, fire has many causes and many safety strategies are needed.
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) June 30, 2017
A June 12 article in the Los Angeles Times reports that an arrest for arson has been made in the case of two East Hollywood area apartment buildings, both still under construction, that were badly damaged in a fire. The fire also impacted nearby structures and displaced a number of people in adjacent homes and resulted in minor injuries for one of the 107 firefighters who fought the fire for some 42 minutes. L.A. based consulting firm, Fire Protection Group, Inc. notes that the blaze is a stark reminder of the risk to all kinds of business and residential structures posed by a wide variety of threats, from arsonists and lightning strikes to electrical mishaps.
The consulting company notes that, while it’s not possible to completely eliminate all risks of a fire, there is a great deal that can be done to attempt to minimize the potential harm. These can range from fire extinguishers and fire sprinkler systems to try to stop a fire in its tracks, or at least slow down its progress until the local fire department arrives. The consulting group notes that, for larger structures, other techniques may also be of great use. In particular, multistory structures are often extremely well advised to install standpipes, which are designed to provide needed water to firefighters. The company also adds that it’s also extremely important to take every precaution to ensure that occupants of a building are able to leave it quickly in the event of a fire, including such measures as fire escapes and exits that have been clearly marked.
Fire Protection Group, Inc. adds, however, that no two structures are ever exactly the same, and they all benefit from a customized approach to ensure that measures are effective and also efficient in terms of costs. The group adds that its most important asset is its team, led by renowned expert in fire protection George Saadian, who has helped to revise many of the fire codes currently on the books. The company also notes that it boasts the services of two widely respected veterans of the Los Angeles Fire Department, retired chief Al Hernandez and Captain Bob Holloway, who was formerly charged with construction services at the department.
