Park School Welcomes New K-12 Director of Arts

John Plough joins to enhance the school’s arts programs

The Park School, a progressive, independent school in Baltimore, is pleased to announce that John Plough has joined the faculty as K–12 Director of Arts.

Plough joins Park from Frederica Academy in St. Simons Island, Georgia where he served as the Director of Fine & Performing Arts. In this role, Plough expanded the arts curriculum to include instrumental music, drama, and media production. He also brought innovative programming to the school, including a video recording series for student musicians and a school partnership with a local dance company.

"John’s enthusiasm in all areas of the arts, his wide and varied personal interests — including passions for science and technology, as well as basketball — and his dedication to the principles and practice of progressive education will be wonderful assets to the Park community,” said Park’s Head of School, Dan Paradis. “At Park, the arts are an essential part of our daily lives, and we look forward to seeing the ways that John will shape our excellent program and take it to the next level.”

Prior to his time at Frederica, Plough was Director of Theatre at Darlington School in Georgia and an acting instructor at the University of Georgia. He earned his B.A. in Electronic Communications and Multimedia at Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts, and his M.A. in Theatre Education at Emerson College in Boston.

At Park, the arts are a foundational part of students’ exploration of history, culture, and heritage. Park students have the opportunity to experience the arts as painters, actors, dancers, and musicians, as audience members, critics and teachers. The arts are frequently incorporated into teaching and learning in other subjects across grade levels.
